INTERNATIONAL MAIL UPDATE 2nd June 2014

Severe Weather in Germany, Austria and Czech Republic Rain and severe thunderstorms caused floods and traffic obstructions in parts of Germany, Austria and Czech Republic.

BAVARIA:
The south of central Franconia and parts of Eastern Bavaria as well as Upper Bavaria were particularly affected by severe weather. At Munich Airport 50 flights had to be cancelled due to severe weather. More than 100 take-offs and landings were delayed. In Freising several streets were flooded.

HESSE:
Heavy rain caused local flooding in Hesse. At Frankfurt Airport some take-offs and landings have been postponed due to torrential rain and thunderstorms.

SAXONY AND SAXONY-ANHALT:
Torrential rain led to floods in cellars and underpasses in Dresden. The entire city area is affected. Also Meissen is affected by flooded streets and mudslides. The federal highway 6 has been closed due to flooding. In Saxony the State Flood Centre issued warnings for all river basins, with the exception of the Elbe. In Saxony-Anhalt a flood warning for the Aller and its tributaries has been issued.

AUSTRIA:
Severe weather caused minor flooding and roadblocks in parts of Upper Austria and Lower Austria.

CZECH REPUBLIC:
A storm, hail and torrential rain caused flooded cellars and traffic obstructions in Czech Republic. In Prague alone the fire service was called 50 times yesterday. Damage has also been reported from other regions of the country.
Inter alia, landslides blocked several country roads.
